The mission of the Department of "Health Management and Health Economics" is:

• To train specialists in public health and health management with a high degree of professionalism to provide effective and adequate health care to modern requirements;
• To provide and disseminate up-to-date knowledge in the field of health policy, health management and public health based on scientific evidence;
• To prepare a new generation of health managers, carriers of an entrepreneurial spirit, who possess the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with the challenges of the emerging market of health services and modern health care practice;
• To provide continuous training and methodical support to health politicians and managers to increase the quality and efficiency of their activities through the use of modern health policy and management technologies;
• To change the traditional medico-biological image of medical knowledge and practice by introducing a multidisciplinary approach that unites and applies the methods of social cognition with those of clinical medicine.

The main goal of the department is through the training of students to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for competently developing and solving managerial, organizational, socio-medical and health-political problems at all levels of the national health care system. The final product of the training should ensure the formation of a new generation of innovative and competent health managers meeting European standards.

The tasks solved by the Department of "Health Management and Health Economics" are:

1. Development of modern training programs in the field of health policy, health management and health care organization.
2. Increasing the effectiveness of the learning process using interactive pedagogical methods.
3. Provision of modern managerial, organizational and economic knowledge and skills applicable in the national health care system;
4. Acquaintance with the current state and problems of health care systems in the world.
5. Familiarization with the methods of socio-medical, organizational and health-policy analyzes and the assessment of the activity of socially oriented and market-regulated systems and structural elements;
6. Study of socio-medical and health-policy methods and technologies applicable at the macro- and micro-level of the health system;
