HYGIENE (OCCUPATIONAL, COMMUNAL, SCHOOL, RADIATION, ETC.)

The curriculum in the scientific specialty Hygiene (occupational, communal, school, radiation, etc.), for the educational and scientific degree "doctor" implemented by the teaching department "Occupational Medicine" of the Faculty of Public Health at MU - Sofia, is an adequate response to the needs of the college and society for highly specialized and qualified personnel with knowledge, skills and work competencies in the scientific research and scientific-practical and applied field of hygiene science and practice as an integral part of public health, health prevention, health promotion of workplaces and settlements, health security and safety of workers and health policy.

The program connects higher education with the scientific and research areas of hygiene, including occupational medicine, environmental hygiene, child and adolescent hygiene, etc., providing the healthcare system with the necessary medical and non-medical personnel and specialists.

Objective of the doctoral program

The aim of the doctoral program in the scientific specialty "Hygiene (occupational, communal, school, radiation, etc.)" is for doctoral students to acquire theoretical general and specialized scientific research knowledge, practical skills and competencies necessary to solve multifaceted problems and challenges with a sanogenic impact on public and occupational health and further develop knowledge in the fields of hygiene, occupational medicine, the environment, constructive and primary health prevention, risk assessment and promotion of occupational and public health, organization, coordination, communication and management of activities for the health and safety of the population and workers in the country.

Tasks of the doctoral program

Mastering in-depth systematized knowledge in general research methodology as well as specific methodological knowledge in the field to enable PhD students to become qualified researchers, with the highest degree of knowledge and understanding, capable of conducting independent research in accordance with the principles of good practice in the field of hygiene science and practice and first of all in occupational medicine, the environment and health prevention corresponding to work, communal, school and other hygiene.
Formation and possession of practical skills, related to the independent solving of complex problems and specific skills for solving problems in the field of hygiene - labor, communal, school, etc.), public and professional health and health care management through the application of innovative technologies, modern methods of analysis and information evaluation, improvement of standard models and approaches and effective communication.
Development of competences for independence and responsibility to research activity, lifelong learning, communication and social communication and professional competences in the field of hygiene, occupational medicine, constructive and primary prevention with a view to the organization and management of the health care system.
