The journal "Health Policy and Management" is a continuation of the journal "Health Management" established in 2001. It is a specialized publication that examines healthcare in its entirety and its connections with other areas of public and political life. The journal is published by the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc" at the Medical University - Sofia.

Prominent Bulgarian and foreign scientists and experts in the field of public health, health management, economics, health promotion and prevention, medical ethics and health care participate in the editorial team and council. The idea of the magazine is based on the real need for a more effective and accelerated health reform as part of the overall transformation of public life in Bulgaria.

The journal's mission is to promote and support the professional development and self-improvement of managers, administrators, and professionals involved in public health and health care issues.

More specifically, the magazine sets the following goals:

• Active assistance in overcoming the serious deficit of organizational and management culture;
• Appropriate and modern training of the new generation of healthcare managers and professionals;
• Information and expert support for the integration of Bulgarian healthcare into the European one;
• Introduction and adaptation of international and European requirements and standards in Bulgarian medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and healthcare;
• Scientifically based data and recommendations for the national health strategy, policy and priorities;
• Science-based information and guidelines for measures in the field of disease prevention and health promotion according to the principles of the New Public Health;
• Support the implementation of evidence-based medicine and health policy.

The annual issues of the journal "Health Policy and Management" are stored in the National Library "St. Cyril and Methodius", as well as in the Central Medical Library at the Medical University - Sofia. The issue is processed in the database "Bulgarian Medical Literature" at the Central Medical Library.

The journal "Health Policy and Management" reaches free of charge by internal mail to: the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Health Insurance, the National Health Insurance Fund and the National Health Insurance Fund; the Bulgarian Medical Association; the Medical Universities in the country - Sofia, Plovdiv, Pleven, Varna, Stara Zagora, as well as to their Faculties/Departments of Public Health and Health Management (social medicine, health care, etc.).
