Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, PhD awarded with the highest distinction for overall services to medicine
The founder and first dean of the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Sofia, as well as its patron - Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, PhD, received the highest award for overall merit in the field of medicine at the authoritative international forum BALKAN MEDICAL AWARDS 2024.
The ninth edition of the competition was held on July 5, 2024 in the capital. Prof. Vodenicharov's candidacy was nominated by the Sofia Collegium of the BLS, and the prize was presented to him by the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Collegium, Dr. Vanyo Vitkov.
Dozens of well-established heads of health organizations, politicians and experts in the field of health care over the years have defended their doctorates and diploma theses under the scientific mentorship of the distinguished doctor, scientist and scholar Prof. Vodenicharov.
He has been awarded many times with prestigious awards for his scientific achievements, expert work, teaching skills and public contribution, among which the "Golden Panacea" and "Aesculapius" badges of MU-Sofia, the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Health, the Badge of Honor of the BLS, the Gold Medal for merits from the BCH, etc.
In his speech from the stage, Prof. Vodenicharov addressed the following message to the doctors:
"To be moderate in all things, but to be insatiable in their pursuit of more knowledge, that they may come nearer to deciphering the mystery called "life"."
He also called on the professors at the medical universities:
"To teach is to inspire. Let's inspire our students to study more, work more, dream more to become more!"
The Minister of Health, Dr. Galya Kondeva, congratulated the organizers and the honorees:
"I congratulate all the prize winners for their contribution to the development of the sector and I have no doubt that their example will attract many young people to the noble medical profession".
Partners of the forum under the title "The role of prevention in health care" are leading professional organizations from all fields of medicine.
