Visit from the University of KwaZulu-Natal – Durban, South Africa

From July 21 to 25, 2025, the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University – Sofia welcomed Dr. Nelisive Khuzuayo and Dr. Ntombifikele Nkwanyana, lecturers from the Faculty of Public Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, for a working visit.
This visit took place as part of an academic mobility initiative aimed at fostering international collaboration and the exchange of best practices in the field of public health. Discussions focused on opportunities for joint research projects and future academic partnerships between the two institutions.
A central theme of the meetings was the impact of climate change on health. The guests and their hosts shared experiences, particularly regarding the integration of climate-related topics into public health curricula. Both parties expressed strong interest in collaborative work, especially with MU-Sofia researchers active in this field.
The visit marked the beginning of a promising, long-term partnership with potential for future scientific, academic, and educational initiatives.
