Assoc. Prof. Julieta Gerenova, PhD

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Zhulieta Gerеnova, PhD, graduated in the specialty "Rehabilitation" from the Medical College "Yordanka Filaretova" at the Medical University of Sofia. She obtained her first master's degree in "Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology" from Sofia University "St. Clement Ohridski". She began her teaching career in 2009 as a part-time lecturer at the Medical College "Yordanka Filaretova" in the specialty of Massage Therapy. She completed her second higher education with a Master's degree in "Health Care Management" from the Faculty of Public Health " Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, PhD, DSc" at the Medical University of Sofia. 

In 2013, after a successful competition, she was appointed as an assistant at the Department of Preventive Medicine. Later, the independent Department of Kinesitherapy was established, where in 2017, after another successful competition, she was reappointed as a senior assistant. Over the years, she has completed numerous postgraduate training courses in the field of rehabilitation. She obtained the academic degree "Doctor" in 2015 in the professional field 7.4. Public Health and the scientific specialty of Social Medicine and Health Care and Pharmacy Organization, following the defense of her dissertation titled "Communication Skills and Empathetic Behavior Towards Patients". In 2018, she graduated from a Master's program in Kinesitherapy and Rehabilitation at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski", and in the same year, she obtained a non-medical specialty in "Medical Pedagogy" from the Faculty of Public Health " Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, PhD, DSc" at the Medical University of Sofia. Her current position is Associate Professor, after winning a competition in 2024.

Publications and scientific interests:

Assoc. Prof. Zhulieta Gerenova, PhD, has over 50 publications (articles, monographs, textbooks, manuals), more than 7 participations in scientific forums and conferences, and 85 citations. 

Her work focuses on the following main areas: rehabilitation care and quality of life for patients with chronic diseases; rehabilitation for pregnant women and in gynecology; organizational and pedagogical aspects in the education of health professionals; public health; communication skills.

Assoc. Prof. Zhulieta Gerenova, PhD, is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, the National Association of Health Policy and Management, the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Medical Education, and the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals.
