Prof. Ivet Koleva, MD, PhD, DMedSc

Biography:

She was born in Sofia. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Higher Medical Institute at the Medical Academy - Sofia. She obtained clinical specialties in "Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine /PRM/" and in "Nervous Diseases". He has a European Certificate in PRM, since 2017 - Senior Fellow of the European Board of PRM. He also has a Master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management"; as well as in "Occupational Medicine and Work Ability". 

Protected is scientific degrees: "Doctor of Medicine" and "Doctor of Medical Sciences" in the scientific specialty "Physiotherapy, Balneology and Rehabilitation"; as well as the ONS "Doctor" in Pedagogy. There are awarded by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) scientific titles: Associate Professor (2006) and Professor (2010) in the scientific specialty "Physiotherapy, Balneology and Rehabilitation". In 2011, the American Biographical Institute awarded her the title of "Academician" for life. For her contributions, she also received the titles "Doctor Honoris Causa" from the University of Daugavpils - Latvia, an award from the Medical University - Pleven and "Signum Laudis" on a leather plaque from the Medical University - Sofia. 

He has over 35 years of experience as a specialist physician, over 10 years of experience as Head of Department and Head of the "FRM" Clinic. Since 2012 he has been a professor at the Medical University - Sofia, since 2015 - at the Department of Kinesitherapy.

She has taught students and postgraduates in a number of Bulgarian higher education institutions: Medical University – Sofia, Medical University – Pleven, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, National Sports Academy, Medical College – Sofia, Medical College – Stara Zagora, University of Ruse, etc. She has been an invited lecturer at universities in Latvia, Spain, etc. She has taught students in “Medicine” (Bulgarian-language and English-language training), “Medical Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy”, “Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology”, “Kinesitherapy”, “Rehabilitation”, future nurses, midwives, physician assistants and massage therapists. 

She has supervised 12 Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine residents, all of whom have already completed their degree. She is currently supervising 1 more PRM resident.

He is the scientific supervisor of 10 doctoral students, all of whom have successfully defended their doctoral dissertations, 6 of whom have habilitation degrees.

He is fluent in French, Spanish, English and Russian.

Publications and scientific interests: 

He is the author of over 200 publications in Bulgarian and foreign scientific publications, 15 monographs, 15 textbooks and study guides. She has over 150 participations in scientific forums (with printed abstracts). Citations – 185. For publications in recent years, she has been awarded certificates and awards in the fields of Kinesiological Analysis, Physical Analgesia, Neurorehabilitation and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. 

Editor-in-chief and co-editor of the journals "Neurorehabilitation" and "Prevention and Rehabilitation", member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, Health".
