Chief Asst. Prof. Evgeny Mednikarov, PhD

Biography:

Yevgeny Mednikarov, Evgeniy Mednikarov was born in 1978 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesitherapy at the "Vasil Levski" National Sports Academy - Sofia in 1997. with thesis defense on "Kinesitherapy as prevention of deep thromboembolism after hip arthroplasty". Later, at the same university, he obtained a master's degree and a doctorate. Defends a dissertation on the topic "Kinesitherapy in children with congenital clubfoot"

From 2020 until now he has been working as a chief assistant at Department of Kinesitherapy at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD" Medical University - Sofia.

From 2003 until now, he also worked as a kinesitherapist at the University Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Orthopedics "prof. b. Boychev "- Sofia. He currently holds the position of "Senior Kinesitherapist" of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. For nearly 15 years, he has been a part-time teacher at the Department of Kinesitherapy at the National Academy of Sciences, as well as at the "Yordanka Filaretova" Medical College. He takes part in a European project for stage practices for a year, as a Mentor. He is interested and works in the field of kinesitherapy in pediatric orthopedics and traumatology. He specialized for several months in Paris at a children's orthopedic hospital.

Publications and scientific interests:

Chief Assistant Mednikarov, PhD has over 10 publications in Bulgarian national scientific journals in the field of kinesitherapy in orthopedics and traumatology. It has been cited in several publications. He is currently in the editorial team of the journal Physiotherapy as a scientific secretary. He has a scientific interest in congenital orthopedic deformities, musculoskeletal dysfunctions, individual orthotics for orthopedic and traumatic limb deformities, manual therapy, and sports trauma in adolescents.

He actively participates in Bulgarian and scientific forums.

Membership in organizations:

Currently, Evgeniy Mednikarov is a member of the Bulgarian Orthopedic and Traumatological Association (BOTA), the Association of Physiotherapists in Bulgaria (AFB), as a member of the Management Board of the association.
