Biography:

Associate Professor David Roumenov Kantchev, PT MSc, PhD, DSc

Born in Sofia. He completed his primary education in Spanish Institute Born in Sofia, he completed his primary education at Instituto Español Juan Ramón Jiménez in Casablanca, Morocco, and his secondary education at 30 OESPU "Bratya Miladinovi" in Sofia. He graduated from PMI "Yordanka Filaretova" in Sofia with a specialization in rehabilitation. He obtained his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in physiotherapy from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski." Additionally, he earned a master's degree in "Medical Rehabilitation and Ergotherapy" from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University – Sofia, as well as a master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" from the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DMSc." He also specialized in "Legal Regulation in Healthcare." He defended his Doctor of Science degree in physiotherapy at the Medical University – Sofia.

He has over 30 years of professional experience as a rehabilitator and physiotherapist. Since 1994, he has worked at the 5th Workers' Hospital and in a private practice, and since 2006, at the specialized hospital for long-term treatment and rehabilitation "Pancharevo" Ltd. In 2010, he was appointed as the methodological supervisor of physiotherapists and rehabilitators at the hospital.

His teaching career began in 2010 as a part-time lecturer for rehabilitators at the Medical College "Yordanka Filaretova" – Sofia, as well as for physiotherapy students at the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski."

Publications and scientific interests

He has presented scientific reports at national and international conferences and congresses in countries such as Russia, the Czech Republic, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Spain. He is the author of over 100 publications in peer-reviewed scientific and professional journals, eight monographs, five textbooks, and one practical guide. He has participated in five scientific projects.

Membership in professional and scientific organizations

He is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health. Between 2007 and 2023, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Physiotherapists in Bulgaria, and since 2012, he has been part of the editorial board of the professional and scientific journal "Physiotherapy." Since 2018, he has been the editor-in-chief of the publication.
