Chief Asst. Prof. Stefka Mitkova Georgieva-Garbeva, PhD

Biography:

born on 09.10.1969 in Samokov. She completed her secondary education at the Central Institute for Training of Health Personnel - Sofia, specialty "nurse - general profile". Obtained a higher education at the Higher Medical Institute, Sofia, and then an educational and qualification degree "bachelor" in the specialty "Health Care" - Faculty of Nursing, Medical University, Sofia. Obtained a master's degree "Health Management" - Medical University, Sofia, Faculty of Public Health.

From 1988 to 2012 worked at the Military Medical Academy as a nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic, the Thoracic Surgery and Oncology Clinic, the Endoscopic Surgery Clinic. From 2012 to 2013 – a nurse in the Administrative Block of the First Hospital.

Since 2014 – Assistant in the Department of Health Care, Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University – Sofia. M. December 2015 she was enrolled as a PhD student in independent training.

In 2017 successfully defended his dissertation on the topic "Modern organizational forms of surgical care".

In 2018, won a competition for Chief Assistant at the Department of Health Care.

Teaches students with a Bachelor's degree in the specialties "Nursing" and "Health Care Management".    

Participation in projects:  

1. Project of "PROCTER & GAMBLE", Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education - National Educational Program All About Puberty, as a lecturer.
2. Project funded by the Medical University of Sofia under the GRANT 2016 program, on the topic: "Creation of a standard model for manipulative technique in practical training in nursing and obstetric care."
3. Project funded by the Medical University of Sofia under the GRAND - 2017 program, on the topic: "Creation of a simulation laboratory for intravenous therapy". 
4. Project funded by the Medical University of Sofia under the GRAND - 2018 program, on the topic: "Awareness and training of nurses and students of the specialty "Nursing" regarding aggression and violence in healthcare."

Scientific interests are in the following main areas - needs for new management and organizational models in the implementation of health care, needs for care and prevention of complications in special nursing care; innovative approaches in university education of nurses.

Author and co-author of over 40 scientific publications, and more than 20 citations.
