Prof. Dr. Yanka Prodanova, MD, PhD

Biography:

Prof. Prodanova holds an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" in the scientific specialty of Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy (2012). She defended her dissertation on the topic "The Role of Occupational Health Services in Improving Public Health". She also holds a Master's degree in Medicine (1993) and a Master's degree in Public Health and Healthcare Management (2005) 

Prof. Prodanova holds recognized specialties in Social Medicine and Healthcare Management (2015) as well as Occupational Medicine (2020). She has held various academic positions, starting as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine, and later progressing to Chief Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor at the Department of Occupational Medicine since its establishment. Prof. Prodanova participates in national and university-based research projects. 

She is responsible for the accreditation and serves as the chief administrative assistant at the department. Prof. Prodanova has supervised master's students who successfully defended their diploma theses for the acquisition of a Master's degree in Public Health and Healthcare Management, Occupational Medicine and Work Capacity, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Business Strategic Management. Additionally, she has supervised doctoral dissertations leading to the acquisition of the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in the scientific specialty of Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy. She teaches postgraduate students in Healthcare Economics, Occupational Medicine and Work Capacity. Prof. Prodanova is a member of the state examination committees and scientific juries responsible for awarding doctoral degrees and the academic title of Associate Professor.

Publications and scientific interests:

She is the author of two monographs, one textbook, and over 125 scientific publications in journals and collections in the fields of Public Health and Occupational Medicine. She has participated in more than 20 national and international scientific forums and has more than 130 citations. 

Her main scientific interests and developments focus on Human Resource Management, particularly the theoretical and organizational aspects of the quality of working life, as well as the analysis and management of health status and needs, health promotion, and the prevention of occupational and socially significant diseases.

Membership in organizations:

Prof. Prodanova is a member of the National Association of Health Policy and Management, the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, the Bulgarian Academic Scientific Society of Occupational Medicine, the Bulgarian Medical Association, and holds collective membership in the European Health Management Association (EHMA), the European Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPHER), and the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).
