Biography
Associate Professor, Engineer, Doctor Stefan Kolev Velikov graduated from the Technical University of Sofia, Faculty of Engineering Pedagogy. He works as a teacher at the Technical School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics "Maria Skłodowska Curie" and at the Natural-Mathematical High School in Sliven. After a competition, he was appointed successively as an assistant and then as a chief assistant at the Technical College in Sliven. In 2008, he obtained the educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" in the scientific field of "Artificial Intelligence Systems" based on a defended dissertation in the field of neural networks. Since 2014, after a competition, he has been appointed as an assistant in the Department of "Health Technology Assessment" at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc".
He participates in the teaching activities of students from the Faculty of Public Health in the following subjects: Introduction to Health Technology Assessment, Introduction to Biostatistics and Analytical Modeling, Informatics and Information Technologies in Healthcare; E-Health: Real-Time Digital Monitoring,; Analytical Modeling, Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.
He is a participant and leader of research teams in the development of “GRANT”: projects at the Medical University of Sofia, funded by the Council of Medical Science.
Publications and scientific interests:
He is the author of over 50 publications in the fields of computer science, health management, socio-economic issues, health economics, education, training, and information technologies in healthcare, including two monographs, one of which is co-authored.
His professional interests lie in computational intelligence and its application in medicine, including: Modeling, Decision Making, Pattern Recognition, Expert Systems, Genetic Algorithms, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Sets, and Intelligent Agents in Distributed Environments.
