Prof. Rouja Nikolova, MD, PhD

Biography:

Professor Rouja Ivanova Nikolova, MD, PhD obtained the educational and qualification degree "Master" in the specialty "Medicine" from the Medical University (MU) - Sofia. She holds a specialty in Physiology defended at the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University - Sofia and a specialty in Occupational Health defended at the Department of Occupational Health of the Faculty of Public Health "Professor Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc" of the MU - Sofia. 

She has a defended dissertation on the topic: "Approval of the Method for Analysis of Heart Rate Variability in Models of Neurosensory Occupational Stress and its Methodological Improvement" and obtained the educational and scientific degree "PhD". 

She is a lead researcher on a research grant project of MU Sofia on the topic "Analysis and Assessment of Occupational Psychosocial Stress and Cardiovascular Risk in Workers in Significant and Risky Areas of Socio-Political Life", as well as in significant projects of MU Sofia. Lecturer and researcher in the field of physiology, occupational health and psychophysiology with an emphasis on the theory and practice of stress, mental workload and the human factor.

Publications and scientific interests:

Professor Nikolova, MD, PhD has over 160 publications in scientific journals with Impact Factor and referenced and indexed in world-renowned databases of scientific information, as well as 74 participations in scientific international and Bulgarian forums. She has published publically relevant research papers on the NATO Research and Technology Agency. 

Professor Nikolova has participated in the development of case studies and research issues for the NATO Human Factors and Medicine Panel. She is an independent author of the textbook "Physiology of Work. Psychophysiology of Professional Activity" and of the monograph "Stress, Autonomic Cardiovascular Control and Cardiovascular Risk in High-Risk Professions" and in other textbooks. Professor Nikolova has 234 citations in scientific publications, referenced and indexed in world-renowned databases of scientific information.
