Assoc. Prof. Milena Yancheva-Stoycheva, PhD

Biography:

In 1992 graduated from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" with a Master’s in Mathematics – Operations Research. In 1993 obtained a professional qualification in Experiment Planning from New Bulgarian University. In 2004 acquired the educational and scientific degree “Doctor” in Hygiene after defending her dissertation on the topic: Health Information and Documentation in the Study of Occupational Morbidity in the Republic of Bulgaria – Characteristics, Indicators, and Improvements to the Statistical System. She holds a recognized specialty in Medical Informatics and Healthcare Management (2005). 

Milena Yancheva-Stoycheva has held various academic positions, starting as an Assistant Professor and later Chief Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Medicine (2008 - 2011). Since 2012 has worked consecutively as a Chief Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the Department of Occupational Medicine at the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc“, Medical University, Sofia. She has supervised two PhD students who successfully defended their dissertations to acquire the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in Hygiene. She is a member of the state examination committees for the specialty "Medical Informatics and Healthcare Management" and has supervised five postgraduate students who successfully graduated. She teaches postgraduate students in Occupational Medicine, Medical Informatics and Healthcare Management and Healthcare Economics.

She participates in national and university-based research projects. She teaches students in: Occupational Medicine and Work Capacity, Kinesitherapy, Health Care Management, Clinical Trials Management, Medicine and Dental Medicine (both in Bulgarian and English).

Publications and scientific interests:

Assoc. Prof. Yancheva-Stoycheva is the author of over 105 scientific publications in both Bulgarian and international journals. She has participated in more than 15 national and international scientific forums and has more than 110 citations. She is also a co-author of one monograph and two textbooks. Her main research areas include Biostatistics, Medical Informatics, Occupational Medicine, and Public Health.

Membership in organizations:

She is a member of the Bulgarian Academic Scientific Society of Occupational Medicine, and holds collective membership in the European Health Management Association (EHMA), the European Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPHER), and the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).
