Chief Asst. Prof. Vidin Kirkov, MD, PhD, MPH

Biography

Chief Asst. Prof. Vidin Kirkov, MD, PhD, MPH was born on September 15, 1995. 

In the beginning of 2021, he was awarded the educational-qualification Master’s degree in medicine at the Medical University – Sofia with excellent success. 

In May 2023 he was awarded the education and scientific degree PhD in specialty Social medicine and management of healthcare and pharmacy and by the end of the same year he graduated a second Master’s degree in Public health and healthcare management at the Faculty of Public health “Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc” , MU-Sofia.

In 2019 – attended a specialized qualification course was held at the First Moscow State Medical University "I. M. Sechenov", Moscow, Russia.

Professional development:

• From April 2021 - Head of the Center for Bulgarian and international students at MU-Sofia. 
• In May 2021 after passing a competition he was appointed for assistant professor in the Healthcare policy and management Dept. at FPH “Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc” 
• In 2023 after a competition is re-graded as Chief assistant professor in the same department. By the end of 2024 he was included in the staff of the new “Social and preventive medicine and disaster medicine” department.
• From January 2024 up to now he is in the position of Secretary General of MU-Sofia.

Educational and scientific activities:

• in charge of the course – practical training and seminars in study subjects Social medicine and Medical ethics of the Bulgarian and International students in medicine, as well as several disciplines of students from the specialties “Healthcare management” and “Public health and healthcare management”.
• Author and co-author in more than 50 scientific publications and reports in specialized scientific editions in Bulgaria and abroad, about 20 of them with IF. 
• He takes part in several scientific projects associated with the Medical Science Council of MU-Sofia and in the international projects INGENIUM and BRIDGE as well as national project BBMRI-ERIC.

Memberships:

• • From 2016 up to now member of the MU-Sofia Academic council 
  • from 2023 to the present, member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzekomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc";
  • Member of the edition council of the magazine “Acta Medica Bulgarica”

• Member of the edition council of the magazine “Praemedicus-since 1925”and Editor in Chief in the period 2017-2021

Distinctions:

• "SIGNUM LAUDIS - 1st degree" for special merits and contribution to the development of MU-Sofia, 2021.
• The Faculty of Medicine Award at MU-Sofia in the name of "PROF. ASEN ZLATAROV, MD, PhD" - for special achievements in medical science, 2020.
