Ch. assistant Dr. Stoyan Vizev, MD

Biography

Dr. Stoyan Vizev graduated as a master - "physician" at the Medical University - Sofia in 2019. Since 2020, after a successful competition, he has held the academic position of "assistant" at the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD", MU-Sofia.

In 2024, he acquired the ONS "Doctor" after defending a dissertation on the topic: "Management of medical forces and resources in extreme situations". Since 2025, after a competition, he has held the academic position of "Chief Assistant" at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine and Medicine of Disaster Situations at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD", MU-Sofia.

In 2024, he acquired a specialty in Emergency Medicine.

Has completed professional qualification courses in radiation protection, disaster response and consequence management in radiological incidents, etc. 

He is fluent in written and spoken English. 

Publications and research interests

Researcher in scientific projects–three consecutive years, in the "National Program for Funding Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows", in the "Young Scientist" module, as well as in a scientific project funded by the Scientific and Technical Committee at the Medical University - Sofia.

Participates in teaching activities and in examination committees of students, including English-speaking students in medicine, dentistry, /physician assistants, nurses, midwives, kinesitherapy, OZZM and UZG – bachelors and masters;/ on MBS, population protection and disaster management.

Actively participates in teaching mobilities in ERASMUS + program.

Basic guidelines of his scientific interests are in the field of Public Health, Preventive Medicine, Medical Insurance in Disasters and Accidents, and Risk Management in Extreme Situations. 

Dr. S. Vizev is an author and co-author in over 30 national and international scientific publications, as well as in numerous national and global academic forums in the field of population protection in disasters, preventive medicine, public health and health management, as well as IF citations.

Membership in organizations

Member of the General Assembly of MU-Sofia, of the Bulgarian Medical Association; of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, of the National Association of Health Policy and Management, of the National Association of Gerontology, Collective membership in ASPHER, member of the International Forum of Teachers of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics.

He is the recipient of certificates and awards.
