Assoc. Prof. Peshka Pesheva, MD, PhD

Biography

Assoc. Prof. Pesheva graduated in medicine at the Medical University of Sofia in 1993. From 1995 to 1997 she was an expert in the Projects Department at the Ministry of Health; and from 1998 to 2002 - a local consultant on the Primary Health Care Component of the Health Sector Restructuring Project, co-funded by the World Bank. Since 2003 she has been successively an assistant professor, chief assistant and associate professor at the Department of Social Medicine at the Faculty of Public Health, Medical University - Sofia. 

In 2007 she acquired specialization in social medicine in Social Medicine and Health Management, and in 2013 defended her dissertation entitled "General practitioners' attitude in Sofia to evidence-based medicine". Dr. Pesheva has participated in four scientific projects.

Publications and scientific interests:

Assoc. Prof. Pesheva is the author of more than 50 publications and has over 30 citations in the country and abroad. The main scientific interests are in the field of evidence medicine based, population health, health systems, mental health and stress. Co-author of four textbooks in social medicine.
