Assoc. Prof. Kristina Popova, MD, PhD

Biography:

In the period 2005 - 2007 she was a full-time PhD student at the Faculty of Public Health, Medical University - Sofia and defended her doctoral dissertation "Clinical Management of Stroke". In the period 2007-2012 she was an assistant professor and associate professor at the Department of Medical Ethics and Law of the Faculty of Public Health, Medical University - Sofia and since 2013 she has been an associate professor at the Department of Social Medicine of the same faculty. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova is teaching Social Medicine and Medical Ethics to students in Medicine and to undergraduate students in all specialties of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc", Medical University – Sofia.

In the period 2007-2012 she was an assistant and associate professor at the Department of “Medical Ethics and Law” at the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University – Sofia and since 2013 she has been an associate professor at the Department of “Social Medicine” at the same faculty. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova teaches Social Medicine and Medical Ethics to students in the specialty “Medicine” and to bachelor students in all specialties of the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, Medical University - Sofia. 

Publications and scientific interests:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova, PhD has 82 scientific publications on: social medicine, medical ethics, bioethics, health management, diseases of the nervous system, health care for patients with neurological diseases, sociological methods in scientific research, ethical dimensions of scientific research in medicine and health care. She has participated in over 30 academic forums. She participates as an expert in four research projects and is the scientific supervisor of over 50 graduate students and two PhD students.

Membership in organizations:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Popova is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgarian Bioethics Section of the International Bioethics Network at the World Medical Association, the International Forum of Teachers of Bioethics, Ethics and Medical Law at the International Bioethics Network.
