Biography:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova graduated from the Medical University of Sofia. She specialized in "Nervous Diseases" at the Medical University of Sofia, and Master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" at the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University of Sofia. Assoc. Prof. Popova specialized in neurology in university hospitals in Egypt and Spain, and in imaging diagnostics in the UK. She specialized in the field of bioethics and public health in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland.
In the period 2005-2007 she was a full-time doctoral student at the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University – Sofia and defended her doctoral dissertation “Clinical Management of Stroke”. In the period 2007-2012 she was an assistant and associate professor at the Department of “Medical Ethics and Law” at the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University – Sofia and since 2013 she has been an associate professor at the Department of “Social Medicine” at the same faculty. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova teaches Social Medicine and Medical Ethics to students in the specialty “Medicine” and to bachelor students in all specialties of the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, Medical University - Sofia.
Publications and scientific interests:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kristina Popova, MD has 82 academic and scientific publications on: social medicine, medical ethics, bioethics, health management, diseases of the nervous system, health care for patients with neurological diseases, sociological methods in scientific research, ethical dimensions of scientific research in medicine and healthcare. Participates in over 30 academic forums. He participates as an expert in four research projects and is the scientific supervisor of over 50 graduate students and two doctoral students.
Membership in organizations:
Assoc. Prof. Popova is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Union, the Bulgarian Section on Bioethics of the International Bioethics Network of the World Medical Association, and the International Forum of Educators on Bioethics, Ethics and Medical Law of the International Bioethics Network.
