Prof. Jeni Staykova, MD, DSc

Biography:

She graduated from the Medical Academy "I.I.Mechnikov" in St. Petersburg 

She has majors in "Communal Hygiene" and "Social Medicine". She also has a Master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" (MU - Sofia) and "Public Administration" (SU "St.Kl.Ohridski"). 

 She acquired the degrees "Doctor" of the Higher Attestation Commission at Ministerial Council, "Associate Professor" of the Higher Attestation Commission, "Doctor of Sciences" and Professor at the Medical University - Sofia, Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DSc", Department of Preventive Medicine. Since 2024 she has been a professor at the Department of "Social and Preventive Medicine and Disaster Medicine". She was an Associate Professor at the Medical University - Pleven and at the "Lyuben Karavelov" Branch of Plovdiv University. She is a gast professor at the University "Dr. Asen Zlatarov" Burgas.

She is an expert in environment and health, public health and health management, prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases. She participates in working groups on health and hygiene assessment for the preparation of preliminary and final EIA reports for several infrastructures in Bulgaria. Manager and expert of European projects in the field of Public Health.

Publications and scientific interests:

She is a scientific supervisor of many graduate and doctoral students. She is a reviewer of scientific monographs, dissertations and theses in master's programs in "Public Health and Health Management" and "Health Care Management" and participates in scientific juries for obtaining degrees and titles and in audit committees of doctoral programs.

She has over 200 publications in Bulgarian and foreign publications with over 100 citations and participates in the editorial boards of the journals "Preventive Medicine", "Medical Meridians", she is the scientific secretary of "Annals" of BAAS.

She is the author and co-author of monographs, textbooks, manuals in the field of hygiene, preventive medicine, health management and environment. 

Membership in organizations:

She is a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Medical Union, the Bulgarian National Institute of Health, the World Organization for Environmental Epidemiology, the National Association for Health Policy and Management, the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health, the Bulgarian Association for Preventive Medicine, the Bulgarian Association for the Study of Obesity and its Comorbidities, the Center for Demographic Research and Training, and is the Vice-Chairman of the Association "Public Coalition for Health - Kardzhali".

She has received many awards for contribution to the implementation of the national health policy and high achievements in healthcare at the regional and national levels.
