Prof. Dr. Zheni Staykova, MD

Biography:

He graduated from the I.I.Mechnikov Medical Academy in St. Petersburg. 

He has degrees in "Communal Hygiene" and "Social Medicine". He also has a Master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" (MU - Sofia) and "Public Administration" (SU "St.Kl.Ohridski"). 

 She successively acquired the degrees and titles "Doctor" of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Health, "Associate Professor" of the Higher Attestation Commission, "Doctor of Sciences" and professor at the Medical University of Sofia, Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD", Department of Preventive Medicine. Since 2024, she has been a professor at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine and MBS. She was an Associate Professor at the Medical University of Pleven and at the "Lyuben Karavelov" Branch of Plovdiv University. She is a guest professor at the "Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University in Burgas.

He is an expert in environment and health, public health and health management, prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases. He participates in working groups on health and hygiene assessment for the preparation of preliminary and final EIA reports for a number of infrastructure sites in Bulgaria. Manager and expert of European projects in the field of Public Health.

Publications and scientific interests:

He is the scientific supervisor of a number of graduate and doctoral students. He is a reviewer of scientific monographs, dissertations and theses in master's programs in "Public Health and Health Management" and "Health Care Management". He participates in scientific juries for obtaining degrees and titles and in audit committees of doctoral programs.

He has over 200 publications in Bulgarian and foreign publications with over 100 citations. He participates in the editorial boards of the journals "Preventive Medicine", "Medical Meridians", scientific secretary of "Chronicles" of BANI.

He is the author and co-author of monographs, textbooks, teaching aids and manuals in the fields of hygiene, preventive medicine, health management, and the environment. 

Membership in organizations:

He is a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Medical Union, BANI, the World Organization for Environmental Epidemiology, the National Association for Health Policy and Management, the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health, the Bulgarian Association for Preventive Medicine, the Bulgarian Association for the Study of Obesity and its Comorbidities, the Center for Demographic Research and Training, and is the Vice-Chairman of the Association "Public Coalition for Health - Kardzhali".

He has received many awards for his contribution to the implementation of national health policy and for his high achievements in healthcare at the regional and national levels.
