Prof. Tsvetelina Milcheva Petrova-Gotova, PhD

Biography:

Born in Sofia. In 2002 she graduated from the University of National and World Economy, Master in Economics. In 2006 she received a specialty in "Health Economics" at the Medical University - Sofia, in 2010 - a master's degree in Public Health and Health Management at the same university. In 2009 she successfully defended a dissertation and acquired the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in the scientific specialty "Social medicine and organization of healthcare and pharmacy". Since 2022, she has been enrolled in the specialty "Medical Informatics and Health Management".

From 2001 to 2008, she has worked as expert at the National Statistical Institute by organizing and coordinating various events with international participation in the country and abroad as well as co-operation with the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). In 2002, after winning a competition, she started working as assistant at the Department of Health Economics at the Faculty of Public Health of Medical University - Sofia. Since 2006 she has been a senior assistant to the Department, and since 2011 she has been promoted to chief assistant. In April 2014, after a successful competition, she held the academic position "Associate Professor", and since February 2021 she has been a professor in the same Department.

The scientific interests of Prof. Tsvetelina Petrova-Gotova are in the following areas: Health economics; Public health; Socio-economic problems in healthcare; Health management; Financial management in healthcare, investments in healthcare. 

Prof. Petrova-Gotova is author of over 130 scientific publications in Bulgarian and international publications. Co-authored in 6 textbooks - "Health Economics Manual", "Financial Management Guide in Healthcare", "Methodological Approaches to Economic Assessment of Health Programs", "Introduction to Economic Knowledge" (2 issues) and "Health Economics". There are over 300 positive citations.

Membership in organizations:

Prof. Tsvetelina Petrova-Gotova, PhD is Deputy President of the National Association for Health Policy and Management. 

She is a member of: the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health; the General Assembly of the Medical University – Sofia; the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Public Health „Prof. Tzekomir Vodenitcharov, MD, PhD, Dsc“ at the MU – Sofia and also a member of the State Examination Commission for acquiring the "Health Economics" specialty.

She is the Chairman of the Commission for Control over the Quality of Education at the Faculty of Public Health „Prof. Tzekomir Vodenitcharov, MD, PhD, Dsc“, МU of Sofia and a member of the Commission for Quality Assurance of the Activities of National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency.
