Assoc. Dr. Galinka Pavlova, MD

Biography:

Assoc. Dr. Galinka Pavlova, MD  graduated from the Higher Medical Institute (HMI) Varna in 1985 and later acquired a clinical specialty in "Otorhinolaryngology" at the same institute (1995). He has defended master's degrees in Business Administration with a specialty in "Health Management" at Burgas University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" (2002) and at the Varna Free University (VSU) "Chernorizets Hrabar" - "Management of International Business Projects" (2007), "Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology" (2009). In 2017, at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Medical University of Sofia, he acquired a scientific and educational degree "Doctor" in the field of "Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy". In 2016, he graduated from the Bulgarian School of Politics "Dimitar Panitsa".

The professional medical experience is mainly in the activity of specialized outpatient medical care (SIMP). From 1998 to today he is the manager of a medical institution from SIMP - successively a municipal polyclinic, a Medical Center and a Diagnostic and Consultative Center, which are successfully developing on the health services market in the city of Varna. Over the years, he has practiced his profession as an otorhinolaryngologist in outpatient settings, in an office in a medical institution for outpatient care.

In 2018, he started as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Medical University of Sofia and professionally grew to Associate Professor in 2021 in the same department, and since 2023 he has been an Associate Professor at the Burgas University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov". He teaches students from bachelor's and master's programs in "Public Health", "Health Care Management", bachelor's programs for "Physician Assistants", "Pharmacist Assistants", "Rehabilitators", medical students and others. The subjects he teaches to students at the Faculty of Health Care of the Medical University of Sofia are "Organization of Outpatient Care", "Organization of Hospital Care", "Drug Policy", "Introduction to Health Management", "Entrepreneurship in Health Care and Leadership", "Management of Information and Documentary Activities" and others, and at the "Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov" University of Health Care - "History of Medicine", "Social Medicine", "Health Insurance Systems and Funds", "Health Assessments and Analyses".

He is the scientific supervisor of 3 doctoral students, 13 successfully defended diplomas at the Faculty of Public Health and Health Management in Sofia, a reviewer of 11 diploma theses in master's programs in "Public Health and Health Management", participates with opinions or reviews in 8 scientific juries for the defense of dissertations, for the position of "Associate Professor" or "Senior Assistant" and is a scientific consultant for a successfully defended dissertation of a doctoral student at the VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".

Author and co-author of more than 90 scientific publications, two monographs and one book in the field of health policy and management.

In the period 2015-2018 he was the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Medical Association. He is a member of the Bulgarian National Medical Association, the Bulgarian National Medical Association, the Chairman of the NGO "Community of Physicians in Bulgaria" and the Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian National Medical Association.

She was honored in the "Society-Significant Initiatives" category of the National Medical Awards 2017 and Medical Awards for authorship and contribution to the BMA campaign to protect medics from violence.
