Assoc. Prof. Boryana Veselinova Borisova, MD

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Boryana Borisova graduated as a nurse at the Medical University of Sofia. In 2000, she received a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, and in 2002, she defended her master's degree in Health Policy and Management at the National University of Bulgaria. She worked successively at the Health Insurance Company "Generali Zakrila", headed the Statistics sector at the University Hospital "Alexandrovska", was an expert in the educational department of the Health Fund "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD", after winning a competition she was appointed as an assistant in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the same faculty. She has a recognized specialty in Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and Pharmacy. After successfully defending a dissertation dedicated to evaluating the activities of general practitioners, she obtained the educational and scientific degree "Doctor", and in 2014 she obtained the scientific title "Associate Professor".

Teaches undergraduate and graduate students in the following disciplines – "Introduction to the specialty of health management", "Strategic management in healthcare", "Organization of outpatient medical care", "Human resource management in healthcare", "Time management", "Primary medical care", "Fundamentals of healthcare management", "Quality in healthcare".

Publications and scientific interests:

 Academic supervisor of two successful defenses doctoral students and 62 graduate students in master's programs in "Public health and health management", "Strategic management of pharmaceutical activities" and "Healthcare management".

Author of over 110 publications in refereed journals, journals with impact factor, scientific thematic collections and reports in Bulgarian and international journals. He has over 200 citations in Bulgarian and international journals. Author of 3 monographs, co-author of three textbooks for students of the bachelor's program in Public Health and Health Management.

Member of the National Association for Health Policy and Management, member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health, International Forum of Teachers (IFT) UNESCO Chair of Bioethics.
