Assoc. Prof. Radka Goranova-Spasova, MD, PhD

Biography:

In 2009, graduated from Medical University - Sofia with honors in medicine. In 2014, she defended her dissertation and obtained PhD degree.

She successively held the positions of "assistant professor" and "chief assistant professor" Since 2019, she has been an associate professor in the Department of Bioethics in the Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc”. 

Assoc. Prof. R. Goranova acquire specialties in "Social Medicine and Health Management" and "Health Economics." She is the leading researcher of one grant in Medical University-Sofia and participates in two infrastructure university projects and three national scientific projects. She completed short-term training courses to enhance her qualifications in Tallinn, Estonia; Lublin, Poland; and Cordoba, Spain.

Publications and scientific interests:

The research interests of Assoc. Prof. R. Goranova are in the fields of health promotion, medical ethics, bioethics, public health ethics, and medical education. She has over 70 scientific publications, including those in refereed and indexed scientific journals with impact factor and impact rank. Assoc. Prof. R. Goranova has over 40 citations in Bulgarian and foreign scientific publications. She is the author of a monograph on "Ethical Aspects of Public Health" and co-author of two student textbooks. 

She teaches bachelor and master students in Nursing, Midwifery, Physician Assistant, Health Care Management, Public Health and Health Management, Medicine, and Clinical Trial Management. Assoc. prof. Goranova also participates in postgraduate courses for continuing education of nurses, midwives, and associated medical specialists. She is the scientific supervisor of one successfully defended PhD student. 

Membership in organizations:

Assoc. Prof. R. Goranova is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, National Association for Health Policy and Management, Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health, and Scientific Society for Medical Education and International Network for Health Workforce Education. She is a member of the Central Ethics Committee of the Bulgarian Medical Association and the Ethics Committee on Transplantations. Since 2019, she has been an internal auditor at MU-Sofia.

She speaks and writes Spanish and English fluently.
