Biography

Assoc. Prof. Natalia Mihaylova Shtereva-Nikolova in 2002 received a diploma of higher education in the specialty "Dentistry" with the educational and qualification degree "Master" from the Faculty of Dentistry, MU-Sofia. Her professional path began in 2003 after winning a competition for an assistant at the Faculty of Public Health, MU-Sofia. She obtained an educational and qualification degree "Master" in the specialty "Public Health and Health Management" in 2006, and in 2009 - a specialty in "Social Medicine and Organization of Dental Health" from MU-Sofia. 

In 2009, she successfully defended her dissertation thesis on the topic "Dental Health and Quality of Life in Patients over 65 Years of Age", for which she was awarded the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in 2010 by the Higher Attestation Commission. Since 2016 she has held the academic position of "Associate Professor" at the Faculty of Public Health, MU-Sofia. Since 2020, she has been a member of the Department of "Bioethics" at the Faculty of Public Health "PROF. TSEKOMIR VODENICHAROV, MD, DSci" at MU-Sofia. She was a leading researcher and participant in several "GRANT" projects funded by the Council of Medical Science, MU-Sofia, which were highly evaluated for the achieved results. In 2020, she successfully completed the online course "Essentials of Global Health" from Yale University.

The scientific research, practical and applied activities of Assoc. Prof. Natalia Shtereva-Nikolova are mainly focused on the following areas: bioethics, medical ethics and public health ethics, social medicine and public health.

Membership in organizations 

Assoc. Prof. Natalia Shtereva-Nikolova is a member of the Bulgarian Dental Union and of BSSPH. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Permanent Ethics Committee and Academic Unity of MU-Sofia. Since 2024, she has been a member of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Public Health "PROF. TSEKOMIR VODENICHAROV, MD, DSci". Since 2024, she has been a member of the Council of Medical Science at the Academic Council of MU-Sofia on the issues of scientific and research activity.
