Prof. Antonia Yanakieva, PhD

Biography:

Prof. Antoniya Yanakieva, PhD acquired bachelor’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences, Karlsruhe, Germany in "International Management" in 2008. She has a master’s degree in "Public Health and Health Management" at the Medical University – Sofia (MUS), Faculty of Public Health (FPH). She is Assistant professor (2009-2014) and Associated professor (2014-2017) in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the FPH. Since 2017 she is a full-time professor and Head of the Department of Health Technology Assessment.

In 2012, she gained educational and scientific degree "PhD" in Social Medicine after public defense of a dissertation on "Marketing of the Medical home care".

Prof. Yanakieva is the Erasmus Coordinator for the last 10 years in the FPH. Since 2024 she is Head of the Department International Integration and Project Funding in Medical University – Sofia.

Publications and scientific interests:

Prof. Yanakieva launched in 2018 a Master program “Clinical trials management” in the FPH. She is leading the Program regarding the organizational process, admission, and the teaching process.

She attended all accreditation procedures in the Faculty of Public Health since 2009. She participates in numerous national and international projects.

She participated in more than 100 national and international scientific publications. The main topics are related to health marketing and management, leadership, health technology assessment, project management, health diplomacy, international health collaboration, and others.

Membership in organizations:

She is Member of the Faculty Council, Member of the Academic Council of Medical University - Sofia and member of the Council of Medical Science. Member of the International Forum of teachers to the International Bioethics Network sections of the Department of Bioethics of UNESCO and Chair of Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health – 2018-2020.

Fluent in Bulgarian, English, and German. Her hobbies are theater, books and wine.
