Chief Assistant Antoaneta Yordanova Dimitrova, MD

Biography:

Chief Assistant Antoaneta Yordanova Dimitrova was born in 1964 in the town of Samokov, Bulgaria. She completed her secondary education at the Polytechnic High School in Samokov with extended study of the Russian language. Then she graduated in “Midwifery” at the Medical College of Sofia. In addition, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare and Health Care Management from the New Bulgarian University (Sofia) and a Master's degree in Health Care Management from the Medical University of Sofia. She has held the positions of a midwife, senior midwife and chief midwife at St. Sofia Hospital - Sofia. 

In 2013, she was appointed as a lecturer in the degree program of "Midwifery" at the Department of Health Care of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, PhD" at the Medical University of Sofia. She obtained a degree in Public Health, followed by an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor", after defending her dissertation on the topic of "Medical, social and psychological problems in women, in menopause, and their impact on the quality of their life" in the scientific degree "Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and Pharmacy". In 2023, after participating in a contest, she successfully obtained the academic position of an "Assistant" at the Department of Health Care, and since 2025, following another successful contest, she got the position of a “Chief Assistant”.

Publications and scientific interests:

The scientific interests of Ch. Ass. Antoaneta Dimitrova are in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive health and menopause, neonatology, health care and the training of students in the degree of "Midwifery". 

She has 62 publications in Bulgarian and international scientific journals, participation in scientific forums, national and international conferences, and congresses. She is the author of a book related to her dissertation, as well as a co-author of a textbook for students, who have their major in “Midwifery”. She is, also, a member of the research teams of a number of “GRANT” projects, funded by the Medical University of Sofia, the Medical Science Council.

Ch. ass. A. Dimitrova is a member of the Board of the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals. She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Section of Midwives, the Scientific Society of Medical Education and the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health.
