Assoc. Prof. Kamelia Kostadinova Bogdanova, PhD

Biography: 

Assoc. Prof. Kamelia Bogdanova graduated with a degree in "Nursing" from the Medical College at Medical University - Sofia. After completing her studies, she started working as a nurse in the Intensive Cardiology Clinic at the University Hospital "Alexandrovska". She later obtained a "Bachelor's" degree with a professional qualification as a "Healthcare Manager and Instructor in a Medical College", followed by a "Master's" degree with a professional qualification as a "Healthcare Manager" from the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DSc" at Medical University - Sofia. Since 2014, she has been a lecturer in the Department of Health Care and later held academic positions as "Assistant" and "Chief Assistant".

In 2018, she successfully defended her dissertation on the topic "Quality of Healthcare in Medical Institutions" and earned a PhD in the scientific field of "Social Medicine and Health Care Organization and Pharmacy". In the same year, she also obtained a specialization in "Public Health". In 2023, she was habilitated as Associate Professor in the scientific field 7.5. Healthcare. 

Assoc. Prof. Kamelia Bogdanova has been the Head of the Department of Health Care at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DSc" at Sofia Medical University since 2023.

Publications and scientific interests

Her research interests are focused on the study and analysis of healthcare quality, management, and organization, nursing care for patients with surgical diseases, and nursing care for mentally ill patients. Assoc. Prof. Bogdanova has 13 publications in referred and indexed scientific journals recognized in prominent international databases and 48 publications in journals with scientific review or in edited collective volumes. Her research papers have been cited 70 times in prestigious scientific publications. She actively participates in scientific forums, conferences, and seminars related to her research focus. 

Assoc. Prof. Bogdanova is the author of the monograph "Healthcare in the Digital Society" and the book based on her dissertation titled "Basic Aspects of Healthcare Management". She has participated in over 10 research projects, two of which she led. She is also an active participant in the National Program "Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Researchers", as well as in various training programs under the "Erasmus+" program.

Assoc. Prof. Kamelia Bogdanova is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health (BNSPH), the Scientific Society of Medical Education (SSME), and is the chair of the Bulgarian Association of Health Professions (BAPSG) at the Department of Health Care of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, DSc" at Medical University - Sofia.
