Assoc. Prof. Daniela Mihailova Gavrailova, MD, PhD

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD, graduated with a Master's degree in Medicine at the Higher Medical Institute - Sofia of the Medical Academy and a second higher education with a Master's degree in Public Health and Health Management at the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University - Sofia. She has a specialization in Internal Medicine and a second specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases. In 1991, based on a defended dissertation, she obtained the educational and scientific degree of Doctor. In 2017, after a competition, Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD was elected to the academic position of Associate Professor in the scientific specialty of Internal Medicine of the FOZ at MU - Sofia. She has completed a number of postgraduate qualifications in the field of endocrinology and nutrition science. 

Assoc. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD, participated in the implementation of the national project "Support, rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities due to oncological diseases - creation of a day center in the "Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Oncology" EAD - Sofia" under Program BG2006/018-343.01.01 - "Deinstitutionalization through the provision of services for risk groups" of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, is also in the author teams of the projects of the Medical University - Sofia "Awareness and training of students of the specialty "midwifery" for assessing the risk of postpartum depression" and "Research of breathing in women of working age (18-64 years) from the field of health care". 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova worked as a therapist in the BNMP at the District Hospital – city, Pernik, research associate, full-time graduate student and therapist at the Clinic of Metabolic Diseases of the University Hospital "Tsarica Ioanna-ISUL", deputy director of the Medical College "Y. Filaretova". Since 2008, he has been a lecturer in "Internal Medicine" at the Department of "Health Care" of the FOZ - MU - Sofia to students of the specialties "Medical Assistant", "Nursing", "Midwife" and "Kinesitherapist". He also teaches "Internal Medicine" at the "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev" Branch - Vratsa - MU - Sofia to students of the specialties "Medical Assistant", "Nursing" and "Midwife".

Publications and scientific interests:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD is an author and co-author of 60 scientific publications in specialized scientific journals and over 40 scientific reports and posters at academic and scientific forums, scientific and technological sessions, academic meetings and seminars on the problems of: "Pregnancy and Diabetes", "Pregnancy and Thyroid Diseases", "Cardiocerebral Risks in Hypoglycemia", "Diabetes and Nursing Care", "Clinical-Epidemiological Studies, Nutritional Status and Nutritional Behavior in Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetes", "Diagnosis of Obesity", "Dyslipidemias and Statins" and others. She has over 30 citations in Bulgarian sources.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD is the author of 3 textbooks - "Guide to internal diseases with nursing care" - Part I and II and "Basic knowledge of respiratory system diseases. Nursing care". 

The scientific interests of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daniela Gavrailova, MD are in the field of: endocrinology and nutrition science.
