Prof. Delyana Petrova Hadzhideleva, PhD

Biography

Professor Delyana Hadzhideleva was born in Sofia. 

She completed basic education in "Midwifery" at the Central Semi-Higher Medical Institute - Sofia and until 2003 worked as a midwife in a delivery room, with a professional qualification in "Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Therapy" at PSAGBAL "St. Sofia" JSC. She has a Master's degree in "Public Health and Health Management" and in "Health Care Management". 

Since 2007, he has been working at the Department of Health Care of the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University - Sofia. She defended her dissertation in the scientific specialty "Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy". In 2016, she acquired the scientific title "Associate Professor", and from 2023 she holds the academic position of "Professor". She has a specialty in Medical Pedagogy. 

Prof. Delyana Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD is a leading lecturer for students in the "Midwifery" specialty in the Department of "Health Care". She also teaches students in the "Nursing" specialty, as well as in two master's programs in the field of Health Care. She is the scientific supervisor of 7 doctoral students, five of whom successfully defended their dissertations, and of more than 30 Master's degree students. She has participated in 8 scientific research projects - 1 international and 7 university projects, in one of which she is a leading researcher. Member of the University Quality Committee at MU - Sofia.

Prof. D. Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD is Deputy Director of the "Yordanka Filaretova" Medical College at the Medical University - Sofia.

Publications and scientific interests

Prof. Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD is the author and co-author of more than 100 scientific publications in Bulgaria and abroad. She is the author of 2 monographs and 2 textbooks on obstetric care. The scientific works of Prof. Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD have over 120 citations, incl. by foreign authors. The scientific output by Prof. Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD outlines current problems, patterns, conditions and trends in the field of medico-social problems of healthcare.

Prof. Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Nursing Practice" and a reviewer in the journal "Healthcare". 

The scientific interests of Prof. Delyana Hadzhideleva, MD, PhD are in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive health, neonatology, professional communication in obstetric care, motivation and the role of healthcare professionals, conflict management, and the training of students in the specialty "Midwifery".

She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (BSSOG), the Scientific Society of Medical Education (SSME), the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health (BSSPH) and the Bulgarian Association of Healthcare Professionals (BAHP).
