Assoc. Prof. Nikola Georgiev, PhD

Biography:

After completing his secondary education at the National Trade and Banking High School, he pursued higher education at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, PhD, DMSc," acquiring Bachelor's and Master's degrees in "Public Health and Health Management" at the Medical University - Sofia. Additionally, he specialized in Healthcare Economics at the same university.

He participated in the implementation of the project "Study on the Specific Professional Difficulties and Educational Needs of Healthcare Specialists in Providing Medico-Social Assistance to the Elderly," funded by the Medical University - Sofia, through the Medical Science Council, and awarded a grant in 2007 with high evaluation.

His professional journey in public health began as a technical assistant at a Health Insurance Fund from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2019, he worked as a Program Assistant in Programs financed by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria at the Ministry of Health.

From 2015 to 2024, he was part of the academic staff at the Department of Medical Pedagogy within the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, PhD, DSc" Initially appointed as an Assistant Professor, he later acquired a Doctoral degree and, after a competitive process, was promoted to Chief Assistant Professor.

Since 2019, he has been part of the team at the Department of Language Education, Medical Pedagogy, and Sports at the Department of Language Education and Sports (DEOS) at the Medical University - Sofia. 

Since the establishment of the Doctoral School at the Medical University - Sofia, he has been part of its lecturer team, and from 2024, he has served as the academic supervisor of the course. 

Following a competition in 2022, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor. 

Since 2023, he has been the Head of the Department of Language Education, Medical Pedagogy, and Sports at DEOS, Medical University - Sofia.

In 2024, he joined the Department of Healthcare at the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, PhD, DSc" at the Medical University - Sofia.

Publications and scientific interests:

His main areas of scientific interest include health management, communication psychology, managerial psychology, and health promotion.

He is the author and co-author of more than 70 scientific publications in the field of public health and health management, including the monographs "The Challenge of Organizational Change" and "Managing Organizational Conflicts.".

Membership in organizations:

He is a member of national scientific organizations, including the "Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health" and the "Scientific Society of Medical Education," and is part of the editorial board of the "Interdisciplinary Civic Academy."
