Assoc. Prof. Svetoslav Garov, MD, PhD

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Svetoslav Garov, MD, PhD, completed his high school education at the Goethe German language school in the town of Burgas. 

Sv. Garov is a doctor of dental medicine. He obtained his first Master’s degree in 2001 from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University- Sofia and since then he has been practicing as a dental practitioner (dentist) in his private practice. He received his second higher education in 2014 in the Master's program "Public Health and Health Management" at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH), MU-Sofia with the professional qualification "Health Manager". In 2019 he graduated from the third higher education "Management Psychology" at the Faculty of Philosophy of the South-West University "Neofit Rilski" of Blagoevgrad. 

He has successfully completed two medical specialisations at MU-Sofia: "Economics of health care" in 2019 and "Medical Pedagogy" in 2022. 

In 2013 Svetoslav Garov defends a doctoral thesis and gained educational and scientific degree "PhD" in the scientific specialty "Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and Pharmacy".

After a competition, he was appointed as an assistant professor at the FPH, MU-Sofia. Later he became a chief asst. prof. and administrative head of the Department. He acquired the academic title of "Associate Professor" in 2019. 

From 2019 was also appointed as an academic teacher at the Department of Language Education and Sport (DEOS) and was elected secretary of the Council of DEOS at MU-Sofia.

Publications and scientific interests:

He is the author and co-author of scientific monographs, teaching aids and has more than 150 scientific articles and participation in conferences, published in national and international specialized publications, including those with an impact factor. 

He is a long-time member of the organizing committee and the Editorial Board of INGA.

Dr. Svetoslav Garov has interests in the following scientific fields: public health, health management, medical psychology, medical pedagogy, health technology assessment, scientific project management, medical education, etc.

Assoc. Prof. S. Garov is a participant in a number of national and international scientific research projects: 2 by the Scientific Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science; 3 by the Medical Science Council at MU-Sofia, а mentor on the "Student Practices" project at the OP "Human Resources Development" and co-financed by the ESF of the EU, etc.

Dr. S. Garov is a member of prestigious professional organizations and associations: General Assembly of MU-Sofia, National Association for Health Policy and Management, Bulgarian Dental Association, Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, etc.
