Students from the "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD" Health Center with prizes in the National Competition

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Dr. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD" at the Medical University of Sofia, a two-day forum was held in partnership with Acibadem City Clinic UMBAL "Tokuda". The event included a round table and a National Competition for students in the field of "Healthcare".

Roundtable: Solving the HR Crisis

The first day was dedicated to a roundtable discussion focused on the topic "Increasing the prestige and interest in the specialties of Nursing and Midwifery - a path to solving the staffing crisis." Participants were lecturers, students and specialists from medical universities in the country.

Among the topics discussed were the future of the nursing profession and European approaches to the staffing crisis, presented by Prof. Grigor Dimitrov and economist Arkadi Sharkov. The proposal to make the specialty "Nursing" protected and exempt from tuition fees was among the key highlights.

National Competition: The Power to Care, the Will to Develop

The second day was dedicated to the competition, in which 10 teams from the specialty "Nursing" and 6 teams from the specialty "Midwifery" participated. The competition went through three stages: a quiz, solving cases and testing practical skills.

Practical tasks included applying a "Hippocratic cap" bandage for the nurses and swaddling a newborn with a diaper and two diapers for the midwives.

Awards:

The winners received a two-day visit to Acibadem Hospital in Turkey, provided by Acibadem City Clinic UMHAL Tokuda. The remaining participants were awarded by sponsors such as the Student Council of MU-Sofia, Foz, BAPZG and leading companies.

This success highlights the high level of training in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the students' dedication to the profession. Congratulations to all participants!
