Biography:
Prof. Lidiya Georgieva is a physician, professor of "Social Medicine, Organization and Management of Healthcare and Pharmacy". She received a Master's degree (MPhil) in Epidemiology from the University of Cambridge, UK. She defended her Doctorate (PhD) in Public Health at the Open University in Cambridge, UK with a doctoral thesis "Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Diseases". She specialized in Austria, UK, Germany, USA, Russia, etc.
Prof. Georgieva has over 35 years of experience as a university lecturer and researcher in the field of public health, health policy, epidemiology, risk management in healthcare. She was the head of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Foundation for Public Health, Medical University, Sofia. She has led courses as an invited lecturer at the National University of Bulgaria, the National University of World Economy and the American University. She has been the leader and team member of more than 25 projects of international and national importance.
KAs Director of the Directorate for International Relations and European Projects and Programs at the Ministry of Health, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Chair of the WHO Governing Board, she led international activities and participated in the development of health policy documents.
Prof. Georgieva was invited expert and consultant to the WHO, the European Commission, the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and DG SANCO, the European Observatory for Health Policies, the Parliamentary Committee on Health, the National Health Insurance Fund, as well as to significant private companies, such as BUPA, BTC, METRO, Sopharma, etc. She has gained valuable experience and knowledge in her work as Head of "Health Risk Management" at MARSH, Bulgaria and a consultant to Mercer and Oliver Waymen at the level of Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Publications and scientific interests:
Prof. Georgieva has over 500 citations and over 160 publications in international and national scientific journals and textbooks. She is a member of the editorial board of 3 Bulgarian and 3 international scientific journals. She is a reviewer at two World Congresses on Public Health. She has 5 methodologies and techniques implemented in practice, which are applied in the Ministry of Health, MARSH and in SoPharma pharmacies in Bulgaria.

Prof. Georgieva has been a member of the ASPHER Board of Directors, Chair of the OSI-ASPHER Board of Directors for Europe and is a member of 8 other international and Bulgarian professional and scientific organizations.
