Assoc. Prof. Galinka Pavlova, MD, PhD

Biography:

Her professional medical experience is mainly in the specialised outpatient medical care. Since 1998 until today she is the manager of a specialised outpatient medical institution - successively a municipal polyclinic, a medical centre and a diagnostic and consultative centre, which are successfully developing on the market of health services in the city of Varna. Over the years, she has been practising her profession as an otolaryngologist in an outpatient setting, at an outpatient clinic.

Over the years, she has been practising her profession as an otolaryngologist in an outpatient setting, at an outpatient clinic.

In 2018 she started as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Medical University - Sofia and professionally grew to Associate Professor in 2021 in the same department, and since 2023 she is also an Associate Professor at Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University of Burgas. She teaches students of Bachelor and Master programmes in Public Health, Health Care Management, Bachelor programmes for Doctor Assistants, Pharmacist Assistants, Rehabilitation Therapists, medical students and others. The disciplines in which she teaches students at the Faculty of Public Health of Medical University - Sofia are Organisation of Outpatient Care, Organisation of Inpatient Care, Drug Policy, Introduction to Health Management, Health Care Entrepreneurship and Leadership, Information and Documentation Management, etc., and at Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University of Burgas these are History of Medicine, Social Medicine, Health Insurance Systems and Funds, Health Assessment and Analysis.

She is a scientific supervisor of 3 PhD students, 13 successfully defended graduates at the Faculty of Public Health - MU - Sofia, a reviewer of 11 theses in Master's programmes in Public Health and Health Management, participates with opinions or reviews in 8 scientific juries for the defence of dissertation work, for the position of Associate Professor or Principal Assistant Professor and is a scientific consultant of a successfully defended dissertation of a PhD student at Chernorizets Hrabar Varna Free University.

She is an author and co-author of more than 90 scientific publications, two monographs and one book in the field of health policy and management.

In the period 2015-2018 she was the deputy chairman of the Management Board of Bulgarian Medical Association. She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, the National Association of Health Policy and Management, chairman of the NGO Community of Medics in Bulgaria and deputy chairman of the National Association of Medical Institutions for Specialised Outpatient Medical Care.

She has been awarded in the category of Socially Significant Initiatives at the National Medical Awards 2017 and Medical Awards for authorship and contribution to the Bulgarian Medical Association's campaign to protect medics from violence.
