Prof. Rumyana Yaneva, PhD

Biography:

Prof. Rumyana Yaneva, PhD is a graduate of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tzekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc" at the Medical University - Sofia. Bachelor of Health Care Management, Master of Public Health and Health Management, Doctor of Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and Pharmacy based on a defended dissertation on the topic "System for Valuation of Hospital Products in the Treatment of Hospitalized Patients at the University MHAT "Tsaritsa Yoanna" - EAD". 

Since 2008, after a competition, she has been appointed as an "assistant" in the Department of Health Economics. She successively holds the positions of chief assistant professor, associate professor, and from 2024 - professor. She acquired the "Health Economics" and "Legal Regulation in Health Care" specialties. She is currently specializing in "Medical Informatics and Health Management". Participant in 4 scientific projects at MU-Sofia: Member of the management team of a successfully defended project on the topic "Introduction of distance learning in public health" with reg. No. BG051PO001-4.3.04.0069 under the Operational Program "Human Resources Development" 2007-2013. Participant in a research team under Contract No. 38/2011, "GRANT-2011" on the topic "Methodology for applying the break-even point to optimize the financial situation of hospital wards”. Member of the team under Contract No. 166/14.06.2022, "GRANT-2022" on the topic "Guidelines for improving control over the implementation of contracts for the provision of Primary Outpatient Medical Care" and of the team under Contract No. 167/14.06.2022, "GRANT-2022", on the topic "Analysis and assessment of the quality of hybrid training conducted in the Department of Health Economics". 

Publications and scientific interests:

Prof. Yaneva is the author and co-author of over 170 scientific publications. Author of "Microeconomics of the Hospital Care Facility"; "Economic Analysis of Endocrinology Departments in Hospital Care Facilities in Bulgaria", Co-author of "Introduction to Economic Knowledge"; "Health Economics"; "Introduction to Economic Knowledge. Second Revised and Amended Edition". She has over 250 citations. She is a member of the editorial board of the collection of scientific reports "Contact".

Scientific interests: in the field of health economics, hospital care; models of financing of health systems; public health and health management.

Membership in organizations:

She is a member of the National Association for Health Policy and Management, the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Public Health, the Interdisciplinary Civil Academy, and the Bulgarian Association for Drug Information. She is a member of the state examination committee for the acquisition of the specialty "Health Economics".
