Prof. Nigyar Dzhafer, MD, PhD

Biography:

Dr. Nigyar Dzhafer graduated with a degree in Medicine from Medical University - Varna. She has specialized in Internal Medicine and with an additional qualification in Healthcare Management. Obtained a PhD at the Medical University of Varna and defended her dissertation on the topic: "Prevention of oncological diseases in Bulgaria. Possibilities for screening in small and remote settlements." Assistant, chief assistant, associate professor, part-time and full-time lecturer at various periods at the Medical University of Varna and Medical University of Sofia. She has numerous additional qualifications and courses abroad and in the country. Her professional experience includes engagements as a doctor and medical consultant in state and private institutions; Member of Parliament with positions held as Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Chairwoman and Deputy Chairwoman of the parliamentary Healthcare Committee, Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports and the Committee on Parliamentary Ethics.

Publications and scientific interests:

Dr. Dzhafer holds over 100 publications in foreign and Bulgarian scientific publications, numerous citations in foreign and domestic databases, including SCOPUS and WoS, 2 published monographs, participation in collective work, textbook with an international team of authors. Impact factor of publications 18,530; impact factor of citing publications – 102,512. 

She has experience as a scientific supervisor of doctoral students, graduate students, participation in scientific juries, reviewer of books, monographs and theses, part of the teams of national and international projects. Research activity in the field of socially significant diseases and their burden on public health systems, with an emphasis on their screening and rehabilitation; health management of specific structures; telemedicine and digital technologies; challenges for public health, caused by imbalances in the health system and unregulated rights of patients. Lecturer in various formats of NGOs; participation in scientific conferences and forums, including as an initiator, lecturer and moderator; initiator and introducer of a number of regulatory changes in the field of healthcare.
