Prof. Ralitsa Zlatanova-Velikova, MD, PhD

Biography:

Prof. Ralitsa Zlatanova, MD is a Master of Medicine. She has been working at theat the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc" at MU-Sofia since 2006, successively holding the positions of Assistant Professor, Senior Assistant, Associate Professor and Professor. In 2016, she was elected Head of the Department of "Health Policy and Management", which she headed for 2 terms. Since 2017, she has held the position of Deputy Director of the Branch "Prof. Ivan Mitev, MD"-Vratsa at MU-Sofia. From 2019 to 2023, she holds the position of Deputy Dean for Scientific Research of Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc" at MU-Sofia. She has a degree in "Social Medicine and Health Management" and "Healthcare Economics". PhD in the scientific specialty "Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy" based on a defended dissertation on the topic "Organizational Problems in the Activities of General Practitioners". Prof. Zlatanova has contributed to the development of 7 projects from the "GRANT" competition to study the organization of the work of general practitioners, medical patronage, training in medical colleges, the management of medical institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria and a study on modern preventive approaches to exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and 1 international project in the field of social innovations.

Publications and scientific interests:

Prof. Zlatanova is the author and co-author of more than 150 scientific publications in our country and abroad, of 4 monographs, of 2 textbooks on public health and green management. Scientific works of Prof. Zlatanova have over 500 citations, incl. 83 by foreign authors. Hirsch index of Prof. Zlatanova is 6.

Prof. Zlatanova's scientific output is in the field of health care management, public health, first outpatient medical care, socio-economic problems, health care economics, education, training and information technologies in health care.

Membership in organizations:

Prof. Zlatanova is a member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsekomir Vodenicharov, MD, DSc", MU-Sofia, the General Assembly of MU-Sofia. She is a member of the Management Board of the Scientific Society of Public Health.

Prof. Zlatanova is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association; National Association for Health Policy and Management; European Public Health Association (EUPHA); European Health Management Association (EHMA).
