The magazine "Health Policy and Management" is a continuation of the one created in 2001. Journal of Health Management. It is a specialized publication that examines health care in its entirety and connections with other areas of public and political life. The journal is published by the Faculty of Public Health at the Medical University - Sofia and the company "Analysis and Consulting Company" EOOD. 

Prominent Bulgarian and foreign scientists and experts in the field of public health, health management, economics, health promotion and prevention, medical ethics and health care participate in the editorial team and council. The idea of the magazine is based on the real need for a more effective and accelerated health reform as part of the overall transformation of public life in Bulgaria.

The journal's mission is to promote and support the professional development and self-improvement of managers, administrators, and professionals involved in public health and health care issues. 

More specifically, the magazine sets the following goals:

• Active assistance to overcome the serious deficit of organizational and management culture;
• Appropriate and modern training of the new generation of health managers and professionals;
• Informational and expert support for the integration of Bulgarian healthcare into European healthcare;
• Introduction and adaptation of international and European requirements and standards in Bulgarian medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and health care;
• Scientifically based data and recommendations for the national health strategy, policy and priorities;
• Science-based information and guidelines for measures in the field of disease prevention and health promotion according to the principles of the New Public Health;
• Supporting the implementation of evidence-based medicine and health policy.

The magazine's audience covers a wide range of professionals from all areas of healthcare:

• Managers and procurators of companies from the production and non-production sectors;
• Heads of corporate organizations, hospitals, occupational medicine services, DCC, medical centers, departments, departments, laboratories, etc.;
• Financial directors, administrators, PR managers;
• Doctors of all specialties, pharmacists, dentists, nurses and
• All professionals involved in making professional decisions related to health and healthcare.

The magazine is of particular interest to health professionals working in governmental and non-governmental health and medical organizations and structures: the Ministry of Health, the Center for Public Health Protection at the Ministry of Health, the Center for Health Information at the Ministry of Health, HEIs and their divisions in the country, NHIF and RHIF, BLS and RLC, the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Union of Scientific Medical Societies, various medical societies by specialty, etc.

A specific target group of the journal is general practitioners as managers of their own practices. They are in direct contact with patients, their health, household, socio-economic and professional problems and are the most direct and effective way to implement preventive and health promotion measures. The magazine is also distributed as a priority among doctors specializing in socially significant diseases (cardiovascular, diabetes, allergies, infectious diseases, oncology, etc.).

The annual editions of the magazine "Health Policy and Management" are stored in the National Library "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", as well as in the Central Medical Library at the Medical University - Sofia. The publication is processed in the "Bulgarian Medical Literature" database at the Central Medical Center.

Ways of distribution:

• Subscription through "Bulgarian Post" EAD and through private subscription and distribution companies (BARA: Artefact, Semir, Press Release, Bliznatsi, etc.).
• Subscription through own distribution network.
• Free sale through the Dean's Office of FOZ and some bookstores in Sofia and the country.

The journal "Health Policy and Management" reaches free of charge by internal mail to: the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Public Health Protection at the Ministry of Health, NHIF and SHIOF; BLS; The medical universities in the country - Sofia, Plovdiv, Pleven, Varna, Stara Zagora, as well as their Faculties/Departments of public health and health management (social medicine, health care, etc.). 

Currently, the magazine is sent free of charge to 250 managers (directors) of healthcare facilities in Bulgaria - hospitals, medical centers, DKC, RCZ, RZOK and others. 

Over 180 private individuals and institutions in the health sector are subscribers to the magazine. In this way, it is guaranteed to effectively reach the target audience and increase the specific qualification in the field of health management and public health of a wider range of health professionals.
