Chief Asst. Prof. Tanya Sergeeva Popova, PhD

Biography:

Born on November 16, 1981, she graduated from the Medical University-Sofia specialty "nurse" at the specialist educational and qualification degree. Bachelor and Master in Health Care Management. From 2002 to 2014 Tanya Popova worked at the Cardiology Clinic of the University Hospital "Alexandrovska" - EAD, where she started working as a nurse in an intensive care unit, and in the period 2007-2014 she held the position of senior nurse of the clinic. Since 2015 Tanya Popova has been a practice teacher at the Medical University - Faculty of Public Health “Prof. Tzecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc", Department of Health Care. 

In 2022, after a competition, she held the position of assistant, and from 2025, a chief assistant in the same Department. Tanya Popova acquires a specialty "Public Health". Successfully defends the dissertation entitled "Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Diseases in Children and Adolescents – Promotion, Prevention and Prophylaxis ". She has participated in several research projects, as well as in the National Program "Young Scientists and Postdocs". Chairman of the Medical University-Sofia Society, Faculty of Public Health at the RC of the Bulgarian Association for Health Care in the period 2016-2024. 

Publication activity and scientific interests:

Tanya Popova is author and co-author of over 80 publications in Bulgarian and international scientific journals and collections. Her scientific interests are aimed at studying the risk factors for cardiovascular disease in children and adults, the quality of health care and the training of patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system. She is author of the monograph "Cardiac Health Promotion and Prevention of Risk Factors in Childhood and Adolescent Age". Tanya Popova is co-author of two teaching guides – "Nursing Care in Eye disease Treatment Practice" and "Nursing Care in Ear-Nose-Throat Diseases". She has participated in conferences with nearly 40 reports in Bulgarian and English and took part in over 90 postgraduate courses.
