Associate Professor Anushka Nishan Dimitrova, dm

Biography:

Born in Sofia. Graduated from the Medical Institute in Sofia with a specialization in "nursing." Obtained a Bachelor's degree in Special Pedagogy, with a professional qualification as a "Pedagogue and Teacher in Special Schools" from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"; specialization in Health Care Management, Bachelor's degree with a professional qualification as "Head of Health Care and Instructor in Medical Practice," followed by a Master's degree in Health Care Management, with a professional qualification as "Health Care Manager" from MU-Sofia. Started working as a nurse in vascular surgery at the Third City Hospital in Sofia. 

Worked at UMHATSM "N.I. Pirogov" as a resuscitation and anesthesiology nurse, senior nurse in the resuscitation unit for children and adults with burns, and Chief Nurse. At the Faculty of Public Health, she started as a lecturer in the Department of Health Care, held the position of Assistant, Chief Assistant, Associate Professor. She holds a specialization in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care within the healthcare system. She acquired an educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in Social Medicine and Organization of Health and Pharmacy. She defended his dissertation on "Quality of health care in patients with burns". 

Participates in national and international research projects: Creation of a simulation laboratory for intravenous therapy - "GRANT 2017"; Mobility of staff for training purposes under the EU program ERASMUS+ International communication and promotion: "local to global“ as outline in the agreed Mobility Agreement for Training; Awareness and training of nurses and nursing students on aggression and violence in health care – "GRANT 2018"; Improving the skills and competencies of students in the specialties "Nurse", "Midwife" and "Medical Assistant" to perform intensive care - GRANT 2022"; Wound treatment - "GRANT-2024". Participates in the National Program "Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Students" in the period 2019-2021.

Publications and scientific interests:

She has over 250 publications in Bulgarian and international scientific journals and collections. She participates in national and international scientific forums with over 100 reports. Scientific papers: "Management of care in case of burnout", "Organization and management of intensive care". Recipient of more than 16 awards for outstanding professional achievements; for contribution to the development and establishment of the University Hospital for Active Treatment "N.I. Pirogov"; awards at regional and national competitions "Professional of the Year"; honorary diploma for professionalism and contribution to humanitarian activities for the benefit of society from the Bulgarian Red Cross.

She is a member of the Scientific Society of Medical Education, the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Public Health, the Bulgarian Association of Health Professionals.
