Prof. Nadka Nikolova Vasileva, PhD

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Nadka Nikolova Vasileva is a lecturer at Medical University – Sofia, Faculty of Public Health "Prof. Tsecomir Vodenitcharov, MD, DSc", Department of Healthcare.

In 1990, she graduated from the Higher Medical Institute (HMI) – Sofia with a specialization in Nursing. In 1995, she was appointed as a lecturer at Medical College "Y. Filaretova", and since 2008, she has been teaching at the Faculty of Public Health – Sofia.

In 1999, she earned a Master’s degree from South-West University "Neofit Rilski" – Blagoevgrad in Social Psychology.

In 2010, she obtained a second Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Management at the Faculty of Public Health, Medical University – Sofia, followed by a specialization in Medical Pedagogy in 2013 at the same institution.  

She obtained her Ph.D. in 2014 and was appointed Associate Professor in 2015 at the Department of Health Care.

In 2017, she obtained a third Master’s degree in Health Care Management, and in 2024, she earned a second specialization in Public Health.

Publications and scientific interests:

Her research interests focus on several key areas, including the study of motivation programs and key factors influencing the choice and practice of the nursing profession; the use and implementation of innovative approaches in nursing education across various clinical disciplines, such as "Philosophy and Introduction to Nursing Care," "Nursing Care for People with Disabilities," "Nursing Care for the Elderly," and "Home-Based Nursing Care."

In 2021, she contributed to an international publication: "Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Comprehensive Support for Children with Developmental Disorders (Experience of Specialists from Russia and Bulgaria)", Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, "Transbaikal State University", "Center for Psychological, Pedagogical, Medical, and Social Assistance 'Dar' of the Transbaikal Region", Chita. 

She has participated in more than 30 international and national scientific forums, presenting research papers and posters. She is a member of scientific juries and examination committees and supervises undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.

She is the author and co-author of over 100 scientific publications, including research papers, conference posters, three textbooks, and one monograph. Her work has received more than 200 citations.

Membership in organizations:

Assoc. Prof. Vasileva teaches undergraduate students in the Nursing, Physician Assistant, and Kinesitherapy programs and participates in several national scientific projects. She is a member of the Bulgarian Association of Healthcare Professionals (BAPZG), the Bulgarian National Society for Public Health (BNDОZ), and the Scientific Society for Medical Education (NDMO).
