SOCIAL MEDICINE AND ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH CARE AND PHARMACY

The doctoral program in the scientific specialty Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and Pharmacy, implemented by the teaching departments of the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Sofia, is a response to the public needs for highly qualified personnel with in-depth research training, knowledge, skills and competencies in the field of social medicine, public health, health policy and health care management. 

It establishes a connection between higher education and the research fields of social medicine and the organization of healthcare and pharmacy, and provides healthcare needs with specialists with modern training at the highest level, capable of solving complex problems, creating, developing and applying new knowledge and approaches to improve the health of the Bulgarian population.

Objective of the doctoral program

The goal of the doctoral program in the scientific specialty "Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare and Pharmacy" is for doctoral students to acquire theoretical general and specialized research knowledge, practical skills and competencies necessary to solve complex problems with a real and positive impact on public health and further develop knowledge in the field of social medicine, disease prevention, public health assessment and promotion, and healthcare organization and management.

Tasks of the doctoral program

  1. Mastering in-depth systematized knowledge in general research methodology as well as specific methodological knowledge in the field to enable PhD students to become qualified researchers, with the highest degree of knowledge and understanding, able to conduct independent research in accordance with the principles of good practice in the field of social medicine, public health, health care organization and management.
  2. Formation and possession of practical skills, related to the independent solving of complex problems and of specific problem-solving skills in the field of social medicine, public health and health care management through the application of innovative technologies, modern methods of analysis and evaluation of information, improvement of standard models and approaches and effective communication.
  3. Development of competences for independence and responsibility to research, lifelong learning, communication and social interaction and professional competences in social medicine and health care organization and management.
